Founded in 2021 by Chris Mercado, Darkhorse Firearmz emerged from a clear and urgent need: the lack of practical, real-world training for everyday civilians. Chris, a seasoned instructor certified by the NRA in Pistol, Rifle, Shotgun, and Refuse To Be A Victim programs, recognized that traditional firearm education often fell short in preparing people for unpredictable, high-stress situations.
Driven by a passion for empowering others and a commitment to safety, Chris built Darkhorse Firearmz to offer training that goes beyond the basics. Alongside a team of skilled instructors, he delivers dynamic, scenario-based instruction designed to simulate real-life encounters. From home defense to situational awareness, every course is crafted to build confidence, sharpen instincts, and prepare students for the unexpected.
In addition to firearms training, Darkhorse Firearmz is certified to teach MACE Defense classes, expanding its reach into non-lethal self-defense strategies. We understand your time is valuable. That’s why we offer flexible scheduling options throughout the week and on weekends. Whether you're planning ahead or looking for a last-minute slot, we’ll help you find a time that works.
Welcoming & Family-Friendly Environment
Our classroom-based courses are open to all ages, with the request that children are accompanied by an adult who can help minimize distractions. Live Range sessions are available for ages 14 and up. Concealed Carry classes are open to all, though certificates are only valid for permit applications starting at age 21.
